Conditional Sentence



Conditional sentence is the sentence which expresses a supposition.  Conditional sentence can be divided into three:

1.      Real Conditional
The supposition is possible to be fulfilled. So, the event is always present. The if-clause can be at the beginning or the ending of the sentence.

Form: If + Simple Present + Present Future

Examples:
·         If I study, I will pass the exam.
·         I will buy a house, if I am rich.


2.      Unreal  Conditional
The supposition unlikely to fulfilled because it is contrary to the present facts. This form uses Past Tense to show that the condition is impossible to be fulfilled. The if-clause can be at the beginning or the ending of the sentence.

Form: If + Simple Past + Past Future

Examples:
·         If I were you, I would fall for me.
·         If I studied hard, I could pass the exam.
·         I could be with him, if I was in Japan.


3.      Unreal Past Conditional
The supposition is impossible because it is contrary to the past facts.  The if-clause can be at the beginning or the ending of the sentence.

Form: If + Past Perfect + Past Future Perfect

Examples:
·         If you had contact me yesterday, I would have attended it.
      (As you didn’t contact me yesterday, I did not attend it)
·         I would be on time, if you had pick me up two hours ago.
      (As you didn’t pick me up two hours ago, I did not on time)
